What it means to be treated by an RMT.

A Registered Massage Therapist in Ontario has completed a rigorous, multi-year clinical education program covering anatomy, physiology, pathology, and therapeutic assessment. After graduation, they must pass a standardized examination and register with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) before they can practice.

RMTs are regulated healthcare professionals. They are held to standards of practice set by the CMTO and are required to participate in continuing education to maintain their registration. This means your therapist is trained to assess your body, identify conditions that may affect treatment, and adapt their approach based on your health history.

Because massage therapy is a regulated health profession in Ontario, treatments performed by an RMT are eligible for coverage under most extended health insurance plans. A receipt with all required information is provided after every appointment at Kube Yuen RMT.

Your first visit.

If this is your first lymphatic drainage massage - we got you. Here’s what you can expect.

  • Your therapist will review your health history, discuss any areas of concern, and explain what to expect during the session.

  • Brazilian lymphatic drainage uses medium pressure with rhythmic, targeted strokes. It does not hurt. Some areas may feel more sensitive than others, and your therapist will check in with you throughout.

  • Your therapist will discuss aftercare recommendations. Herbal tea, avoiding alcohol for 72 hours, and limiting salty foods can support the body’s natural process after treatment.
